Crab Island is less of an island and more of an underwater sandbar – and its surrounding crystal clear water attract boaters and ocean lovers from all over the area. People flock to this destination to relax on their boats or to socialize in the shallow water. Although it’s known for its party atmosphere, recent visitors said Crab Island is also fun for families, and note there is plenty of room for everyone to find their own space in the water. A Crab Island Adventure Tour, complete with inflatable waterslides and other water toys, can be a fun, family-friendly way to see the area.
Previous visitors recommended bringing floats to use in the water and visiting at high tide for the best experience. They also suggest bringing coolers of food and drinks, but if you’d rather purchase refreshments, there are floating vendors at Crab Island (although make sure to bring cash, as some don’t accept credit cards). Keep in mind that while you can bring alcoholic drinks, there will be nowhere to buy these types of beverages once you reach Crab Island.
Note that this popular sandbar area is only accessible by boat due to strong currents. If you don’t have a boat and don’t want to rent one, you can buy a ticket for the Crab Island Shuttle Boat. Round-trip tickets cost $40 per seat, and previous visitors said the price was worth the trip because it includes parking and about two hours docked at Crab Island. Not to mention, the boat has a glass bottom to make the ride more exciting.
We stayed in the BayPine property in Sandestin. Excellent communications throughout our stay and attention to detail. Beautiful home, very clean and comfortable. We will be back!
We stayed in the Baypine property, and everything was fabulous! The house is gorgeous, and the attention to detail (ex. hand soap in every bathroom, extra trash bags, etc.) is truly one of a kind. The golf cart made this trip extra special, providing easy access to the beach, pools, groceries, shopping and restaurants. I can’t recommend this property or renting with Eric enough – every review you read says it all! Thank you, Eric for a wonderful time. We will be back as I already miss sunsets from the 2nd floor deck!
This was our 2nd time renting from Eric and this time we decided to stay in the Baypine property. House is spacious and has all the amenities you need to relax and enjoy your stay. Super clean and bright. Catch a sunset on the 2nd floor deck. Having a golfcart is super convenient as well. 5 min ride to the beach and a 1 min ride to Baytowne Wharf(square with all the entertainment/restaurants). There is also a heated pool at the top of the street as well. You can also use the golf cart to load up on groceries at the Publix right up the street. Eric and his team are super helpful and will make sure your stay is worth it. So what are you waiting for….book it!
We stayed in the 3 bedroom condo and everything was great. The place is very big and very nice with a great view of the bay. The Sandestin plantation was perfect with running/walking trails and the Baytown Wharf just steps away for food, drinks, shopping and kid activities. Can’t wait to go back.
We had a great time staying at the four bedroom house on the golf course in Sandestin. Our family loved the location and the golf carts were great to get around the neighborhood for dining, drinks, beach time, pool time, golf, etc. Eric was super helpful and communication was great.
